Video Tutorial: Ni Hao Kai Lan Banded Bun Hair Style

Photobucket

I washed and detangled A's hair over the weekend. After washing I added Bee Mine Luscious Moisturizer to about 5 sections of her hair and banded it up. Her hair only stayed banded for about 2 hours (if that) so when I took the ponytail holders out her hair was still slightly damp but still stretched out. We were headed to the store so I just wanted to do something simple and cute. I was going to just do two banded pigtails with matching ponytail holders until I looked at her shirt. Ni Hai Kai Lan! This style took about 15-20 minutes. Watch the videos for instructions! :)

  13. Gonna cop this style, too, lol.

My girls are outta their Dora & Kai Lan phase (surprising, they still love Spongebob, lol) but this style can go with any print clothing. So, yeah, they're gonna have this one after I take down their box braids!

Oh, and thanks for hipping us all to the Faded Glory bands at Walmart. They work like a charm. However, those Faded Glory mini-butterfly clips are boo-boo on long or thick hair. The little teeth break supa easy, or maybe my girls are just way too athletic, lol.

  15. I forgot to add. I remember when my mom use to do my hair similar, except she didn't band my hair she twisted or braided it and had the ponytails on the side instead . I remember being called Princess Laya(sp?). Oh the memories.

  33. I know A must have little girls following her around the school all the time, lol. Perfection. I will really be looking forward to that cornrowing video. I think my most difficult part is not getting the hair in a big knot at the ends AND being able to pick up more hair without tangling the whole thing. Thank you for the tutorial... I did see how you were gathering her hair back up into your hands with each new stitch.

We will definitely be giving this style a try!
