Shutterfly's Giving Away 50 Free Holiday Cards to Bloggers!

Photobucket

Yep, you read right! Shutterfly is giving away 50 free holiday cards to bloggers! Any size public website/blog can participate, how cool is that?! I actually *just* placed my order with Shutterfly. I ordered the adorable holiday card above. It comes in a 5x7, matte finish. I cannot wait to see how they turn out! I will definitely keep you all posted. Although I already ordered, some extra free ones don't hurt, right? :P

When the holiday season rolls around, it's always great to have extra cards for family members. If you don't, next thing you know you will be hearing from your long lost cousin asking why they didn't get one, lol.

I actually went to a few different sites to play around with the photocards before finally deciding on Shutterfly. I really liked the card I chose, they were the only one with that style and their site had to be the easiest to navigate. I simply uploaded a photo, dragged it on to the card and saved!

If you're a blogger, go sign up here. They have tons of cute cards to choose from!

Edited to add:

Click here to see their Christmas photo cards, click here to see their photo calendars (makes a great gift!) and finally, you can check out their cute birthday cards by clicking here. Have fun!

Chunky Twist Out Part 2 + We Saw Tangled!

Photobucket

A's Thanksgiving twist out was rained on and slept on so the next day I decided to re-twist her hair. I spritzed her hair with water, added a little Bee Mine Curly Butter to a large section, detangled with our modified Denman D3 brush and started twisting. Instead of 10 twists like last time, she had about 12 twists. This time around I decided to split each section up into 2-3 parts. I used my fingers to fluff the roots and hide any visible parts and she was good to go!

We decided to go see the movie 'Tangled' today in 3D. If you're a Facebook friend then you probably know I was a little hesitant to see it because Rapunzel is pretty much what the media portrays as (most) beautiful and I was a little worried about what A would think. The movie was really cute though! We both enjoyed it. I admit, I got choked up a couple of times towards the end but I sucked it up like a champ. ;) I loved the 3D effects! This was our first time seeing a movie in 3D so it was really cool for the both of us. I do have an issue though, what is up with these movie prices?! I'm not even going to tell you what I spent on just the two of us for tickets and food. What ever happened to $1 movies and sneaking in food? :P

Have you seen the movie Tangled? Thoughts?

Cornrows and A Big Puff

Photobucket

Instructions:
  • Always start with clean, detangled, moisturized hair. I started by parting Anisa's hair down the middle from front to back. Gather one side into a ponytail in order to work on the other side. I began by making a braid in the center of her head. I braid stopped in the center of her head. It is not necessary to braid the hair to the end because it will be gathered into the big puff.
  • Next I made a cornrow on one side of the center cornrow. This cornrow goes all the way down to her ear. You will repeat this step on the other side. Next, I made another cornrow behind the cornrow I just made. This cornrow will go all the way to the back of her head. You will repeat this step on the other side as well.
  • The final cornrow was made near the back of her ear, underneath the last cornrow that was made. This cornrow will go all the way to the back as well.
  • I gathered the remaining hair into two separate puffs. My final step was to gather the two puffs together with an ouchless band in order to make one big puff on top. Finish the look by adding your beads of choice.

Chunky Two Strand Twist Out

Photobucket

Photobucket

I removed A's box braids the night before Thanksgiving. First I rinsed her braids and added a handful of Bee Mine Avacado Conditioner. Using the end of our metal rat tail, I began removing her braids. I placed the end of our metal rat tail comb between each stitch and worked my way from the bottom of the braid to the top. The process took about 1.5-2 hours, not nearly as long as it took to put them in. After I took out about 10-15 box braids I detangled that section with our modified Denman D3 brush and made a quick two strand twist. By the time I was done she had about 10 large two strand twists in. At this point, I knew it was too late to do any type of intricate style so I removed each twist one by one, added a little Bee Mine Curly Butter, then retwisted until I was done retwisting all ten twists.

Thanksgiving morning came and I removed all of her twists. I used a wide tooth comb to fluff her roots and make there there were no visible parts. I gently separated a few twists and viola! A nice, full, fluffy twist out!

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!

Bee Mine Black Friday Sale!

Bee Mine Products
Bee Mine Black Friday Sale is here! You DON'T want to miss this sale! Use our reader discount code: 26BBBFRI to receive 20% off your purchase of $15 or more. You might want to start getting those carts ready! Please note Bee Mine's website will be down 10-15 minutes prior to the sale as they get ready.

If you're new to the blog or have been a little hesitant to try, now would definitely be the time. I don't know when another 20% off sale will be so take advantage of it while you can. I have been using Bee Mine Products in A's hair since March or April of this year and couldn't be happier. You probably noticed I haven't been doing too many reviews, to be completely honest, I don't have much of a desire to. I feel like I have finally found a product line where I consistently use most of the products. Since styling A's hair with Bee Mine Products her styles look better, last longer (her most recent box braids lasted 4 weeks!) and most of all her hair feels better.

Now I don't want to sound too much like an infomercial so with that said I am just going to let the pictures speak for themselves. Below are just a few of my favorite styles done with Bee Mine Products.

Update: 4 Weeks of Box Braids

I am very excited to let you all know A's box braids lasted almost 4 weeks! If you don't remember the original post (Small Box Braids Curled With Curlformers), click here.

I haven't done anything special during these 4 weeks. I kept it pretty basic and let them be most of the time. I did not shampoo her hair at all during this time. I co-washed each week with Bee Mine Avocado Conditioner and added a little Bee Mine Luscious Moisturizer to her ends 1-2x a week. I spritzed her hair about once (maybe twice, depending on the week) a week with Bee Mine Juicy Spritz and that's it!

I will hopefully be taking her box braids out tomorrow! Just in time for Thanksgiving. :)

Below are a few random pictures taken during the 4 weeks.

Diva Spotlight: Brianna & Brittney

Photobucket

Photobucket

Tell us a little about yourself & your daughters:

My name is Jamesha Bazemore and my 3 year old twin’s names are Brianna (red) and Brittney (orange). We are all natural. Our hair types are too long to list, so we’ll just say that we’re a bit coily and curly.

What is your daughters hair care routine?

I wash their hair once every two weeks. I use black soap to shampoo their hair, apple cider vinegar as a hair rinse and follow that up with EVOO as a conditioner. I then use a mixture of aloe vera juice and distilled water as a leave-in/ natural detangler. I seal in the moisture with my herbal infused oils and then style with my olive/ shea butter mixture. I have recipes on my website, www.EbonysBraidery.webs and I also have a natural hair care line called ImaniJoi Naturals – Natural Hair Care for Children.

What kind of products do you use on their hair?

I make 100% of their hair products. I began doing research on making my own products when they were a year old. They have eczema and we faced many challenges from it, such as, hair loss and extremely dry skin.

Have you ever used chemicals on their hair?

As a natural stylist I know the effects of using harsh chemicals and I will never allow them to relax their hair and I will teach them by example to embrace and love their Nappturally beautiful hair.

How do your daughters feel about their hair?

My girls love their hair. They like to help me style the others hair and they love beads and wearing the flower clippies and hair bows that I make for them.

If you had to share one hair care tip, what would it be?

If I had to share one hair care tip it would be that maintaining moisture is key to promoting hair growth.

How cute are these girls?! Love them! Sounds like mommy is doing a great job. Make sure you check out http://www.EbonysBraidery.webs for more of Jamesha's amazing work.
