Q.O.T.W: How do you wear your hair?

Photobucket

We always talk about our kiddos hair, so I thought I would ask you all how you wear your own hair. Straight? Curly? Up? Down? Do you have a staple style? etc.

How do you wear your hair?

My hair is almost always in a tucked under bun. Kind of boring but I guess that's my mom 'do. Last night I was experimenting with different buns. I tried a figure 8 bun and a Chinese braided bun after watching some videos on youtube. They were very crooked but I'll just keep practicing! I guess I'm a little style challenged when it comes to my own hair.

  1. I am not a Natural Momma I do get relaxers.... My hair is usually just wrapped for easy go if its not braided. a flat iron curls also. I must say now that I think about it I put much more time and thought into my daughters hair then I ever do mine

  2. My hair is straight usually in a messy bun, or flat iron it (if I don't and wear it down it gets puffy) i pay more attention to ray's hair... mine takes about 10-20 minutes depending on the time I have o get ready.

  3. two-strands for M-TR, and then Friday-Sunday aka wash day a twist out. I'm somewhat boring with it, but I do try to change the partings or add "bangs."

  4. Right now my hair is loc'd and curled, but I'm taking my locs down after almost 4 years so I'll be a loose natural!!!!! Wooooo!!! Can't wait to wear my braid outs and twists out and twists and so many products to try. TK's never seen my loose natural hair so this is going to be interesting and the mister isn't too happy about it, but ehhh lol. So far I've taken 3 loose for a total of 3 hours of work lol.

  5. My hair is natural and for now I am wearing my hair in micro braids and sew-ins. It's easiest for me in the summer time since we do go to the pool a lot.

  6. I have it in a big puff brushed to the side right now. I've been wearing braid outs or puffs lately. Like the other moms, I spend more time styling Anisa's hair than my own.

  7. My hair is relaxed and I usually wear it in a wrap with a swoop bang! I flat iron it about 2 twice a week! I agree with most of the moms I also pay way more attention to Nylah's hair than my own!

  8. Im hopeless at doing my own hair.. so i usually just wear mine natural and out.. it has a slight wave to it.. which i previously used to try to remove with my trusty hair straightener but i've since ditched it and just leave it natural.. i spend far too many hours on my babies hair that i don't really have time left to practice on my own....

  9. I have a routine: 1-Perm: when its fresh I wear ponytails because its too flat after a perm and I don't like it like that unless I have a clean cut bang. 2: Middle ground: I call it this when my hair is the perfect texture, not too flat or big, I wear it out most of the time. 3-Perm wearing out: I wear it out puffy with twists or waves, up dos with puffy buns on top. I love my hair like this but then its starts to fall out because its due for a perm :-/
My hair is past my shoulders but I am seriously considering going natural, any advice???

  10. I am locked for life! I locked my hair for the first time in 2004 after transitioning/wearing my loose natural hair for almost 2 years. I combed my 5 year old locks out last summer and I'm just not a loose hair type of girl so I started locking again in April. This is it for me!

  11. My hair is relaxed and I wear it in a bun 98% of the time. It is easy and helps me retain length.

  13. My hair is natural. My staple hairstyle is either a braidout (warmer weather) or braided bun (cooler weather).

Melo- There's a ton of great information online for those who are considering transitioning to natural hair. Curly Nikki (curlynikki.com), Glamazini (glamazini.typepad.com), Afrobella (afrobella.com) and Black Girl with Long Hair (bglhonline.com) are four of my favorite blogs. Nappturality, Naturally Curly, and Curly Nikki all have great forums where you can ask all the question you want and some even have specific boards for transitioners. Finally there's youtube. If you search for natural hair or transitioning, you'll find tons of great advice and how-to's. Good luck!

  14. My hair is relaxed and in the summer I will either wear it out (with my natural curl pattern), in a ponytail, or in a bun. In the cooler months I wear it straight or in a ponytail.

  18. Right now I have my hair braided to one side like back in the day. I am natural, so when I get bored with the usual ponytails, braids or buns and want a straight look, short look or different color I tuck my hair under wigs. This way my hair does not fall out because I love changing up the color without coloring my hair. I hate my natural color (sandy red/sandy brown...the color that always seems like it is dry looking).

  19. I am currently transitioning to natural, I am almost 4 months post relaxer, Yay! I am currently wearing my hair in Senegalese Twists that I've had for the last 4 weeks. I normally wear Braid n curl outs or twist n curl outs. Now that I'm transitioning I spend a lil more time or my hair but I used to do something super simple and pay way more attention to Kurly T's hair than my own.

  21. I have 2 staple styles. Flat ironed or Curled (such as my picture) but I do play around with other styles all the time. I use velcro rollers, curling irons from 1/2inch to 3inches, round brushes & blow drying. My mom is a cosmetologist and I want to go to school for it so I'm always changing my styles, cuts, and colors. I usually wear my hair flat ironed though because it lasts the longest between washes and its easiest to touch up.

  22. I usually wear my hair in a wrap. either parted down the middle or in feathered curls throughout. Sometimes I wear a ponytail when I am in need of a visit to the shop. And i'm currently thinking about maybe getting a bang cut in my hair

  23. i've been loc'd for about 3 and a half years and it's getting looooong! we live in the woods and i keep thinking something's crawling on my arm...whoops, it's my hair!

  24. I'm natural, but during the day, my hair is under a lacefront because it was tapered in the back last summer and mysteriously stopped seeing growth. I can't wait for it to grow back. At this point the back is about 1 inch.

  25. Actually, just recently taking care of my kiddos' hair has inspired me to take more of an interest in mine and actually learn how to take care of it better. I usually flat-iron and go. So now I am trying out a modified curly-girl routine and learning to work with my wavy hair. We'll see how it goes long term though.....

  26. Before I loc'd my hair, I use to wear giant puffs with Hawaiian flowers, flat twists in front with big twists in back, long braids with flowers, and giant twists held back with a headband, all styles using my own hair. Sometimes I miss the versatility of loose natural hair...but then I realize it only takes 6 seconds to style my locs, lol. :)

  27. I have been natural for almost a year and usually wear my hair in twist outs.

  28. I'm naturally curly, and wear my hair down most days. I have a looser curl pattern (3a/3b) and its almost to my waist now, which means its about to my bra strap when curly. It only takes a couple minutes to run some product through it, bunning my hair actually takes longer! Though I was jsut combing through some youtube videos yesterday to learn how to do some buns. Perfect timing on this post!

  30. my hair is naturally wavy,I get it highlighted every 8 weeks. I either wear it down and put a few curls in it with my big barrell (kinda like the Kardashians)or flat iron it,when i work it's always up in a pony or sometimes a bun

  33. I'm most wearing it in puffs, and the wet style look.
But sometimes i'm wearing braids & cornrow, and i haved tryed twists.
I have also planned to get a sew in soon, to my confirmation.
But i love most naturael styles, and love to try new stuff, i will also soon try bantu-kots they are so cute i think.
When my hair gets a little longer i will do even more styles like natural braids, to the styles i tryed before, and new styles, and mix styles.
