Chunky Twist Out Part 2 + We Saw Tangled!

Photobucket

A's Thanksgiving twist out was rained on and slept on so the next day I decided to re-twist her hair. I spritzed her hair with water, added a little Bee Mine Curly Butter to a large section, detangled with our modified Denman D3 brush and started twisting. Instead of 10 twists like last time, she had about 12 twists. This time around I decided to split each section up into 2-3 parts. I used my fingers to fluff the roots and hide any visible parts and she was good to go!

We decided to go see the movie 'Tangled' today in 3D. If you're a Facebook friend then you probably know I was a little hesitant to see it because Rapunzel is pretty much what the media portrays as (most) beautiful and I was a little worried about what A would think. The movie was really cute though! We both enjoyed it. I admit, I got choked up a couple of times towards the end but I sucked it up like a champ. ;) I loved the 3D effects! This was our first time seeing a movie in 3D so it was really cool for the both of us. I do have an issue though, what is up with these movie prices?! I'm not even going to tell you what I spent on just the two of us for tickets and food. What ever happened to $1 movies and sneaking in food? :P

Have you seen the movie Tangled? Thoughts?

  1. My 7 year old and I saw Tangled. I thought it was cute and I did like how after her hair was cute off she was still considered beautiful. I was worried they were gonna do something to make it go back to "golden". So glad they didn't. We enjoyed it a lot!

  2. The style looks great! I haven't seen a movie in a regular theater in years, and do well to see them at the $2 movies, lol. I don't know if the theater near you does this, but sometimes if you go as a group, you get a discount. Maybe some of the kids A goes to school with the next time a film comes out, their Mom's & you could get a discount for going at the same time. Just a thought.

  3. Her hat/coat is adorable!! Anisa wants to see Tangled but we haven't had a chance to go yet. She also wants to see some other animated movie but I can't think of the name.

Good job on A's hair. It looks great!!!

  5. Our family went to see Tangled this morning and I thought it was an adorable movie. My sons enjoyed the story as much as my daughter.

As far as the glorification of long golden blonde hair, that was obviously present during the movie. However, when her hair was cut and it turned brown the magic was still within her. Even Rapunzel learned that she is not her hair!

Our family will only go to matinee shows, here it is $5 for regular or $7 for 3D...our local theatre is NCG if there is one in your area check out a matinee for a better price.

  6. Me and my kiddos saw Tangled this morning...here in TX we have a movie theater called the Movie Tavern and on Saturdays they have what they call Flapjacks and a Flick....I love this deal for 6.50 we get to see a movie and have our pankcakes! I have 3 yr old BBG triplets as well as 5 and 7 yr old daughters and amazing enough they ALL enjoyed the movie.

Although my 7 yr old pointed out that Rapunzel should have been upset when her hair was cut because as her daddy says a girls hair is her glory...go figure.

As for the girls hair my older daughters are rocking bantu knots and my baby girl has a veil style.

  8. Saw Tangled yesterday with my sis-in-law, neices and nephew. Everyone enjoyed it and I thought it was great! Thrilled that Rapunzel's beauty and magic powers were not dependant on her long blong locks but existed within her soul! Plus, the girls learned that the frying pan is mightier than the sword...

  9. Great twist out! She looks fabulous as always! ;) It's hard not to with that smile!

Haven't seen the movie... and won't bother in theatres. Too pricey and Q is still too young to care. We might rent it later, or even buy it later, but for now I'll just read what the rest of you think about it! :)

  10. A is high stylin' =). So glad to see I wasn't the only one who almost cried near the end of this movie, lol. We really enjoyed the movie too. I didn't really have a lot of reservations going into the movie, but once we were in I couldn't help but think about what messages about hair were gonna be at play, but I was happy with the direction of the movie and the message.

You were brave with the 3D. We skipped the 3D option for both this one and Megamind, lol. 3D is extremely cool, but boy the prices are not!

  12. Love her hair like this!!! I've decided we will not be taking T to see TANGLED for the same reasons you were hesistant about, but I just wanted to say that when we go to movies we still sneak in water and snacks!! Big purses are in after all ;)

  13. Love her outfit, where did you get it at????

Good to hear the great reviews, but still hesistant on taking R to the movie. I have mid shoulder length blonde hair & R has been asking latley to have hair like mine. I'm worried the movie would only enforce the long blonde hair issue.

Maybe when it comes out in a dvd.
