Product Review: Bee Mine Bee Nourished Ayurvedic Herbal Bar + Anisa Gets A Trim

After being outside all day (after trim)

I've had the pleasure of using the Bee Mine Bee Nourished Ayurvedic Herbal Bar to wash Anisa's hair. This was my first experience using a bar to wash her hair and I must say that I love it! The following info is from the website:

Product Description
Replace your weekly amla or brahmi tea rinses or paste treatments with ease. Our herbal bar serves as a moisturizing root strengthener allowing you to nourish & treat your hair to goodness without the mess.

FEATURES:
•Fresh scent/Light Brown color with specks & pieces of amla, brahmi & neem.
•Powerful ayurvedic hair vitalizer
•Solid bar will not easily break apart or disintegrate

DIRECTIONS: Use weekly on wet hair in place of shampoo. Divide hair into sections and gently rub the bar against your scalp to create lather work the lather down strands to the ends. Can be followed with conditioner and is great for use on your face & body.

INGREDIENTS: Coconut Oil, Palm Oil, Safflower Seed Oil, Glycerin (kosher of vegetable origin), Shea Butter, Purified Water, Sodium Hydroxide (saponifying agent), Sorbitol (moisturizer), dl-Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B), Hydrolyzed Silk, Organic Raw Honey, Amla, Brahmi, Neem, Sorbitan oleate (emulsifier), Soy bean protein (conditioner), Lavender Essential Oil, Fragrance. 4 to 4 1/2 oz.

REVIEW:
I separated Anisa's hair into 4 - 6 sections like I usually do and began using the bar. It creates a good lather and it also smells really nice. It's not overpowering at all. While I was working on a certain section, I also massaged her scalp. She recently wore small box braids for 5 weeks. She wore them for 4 weeks instead of the 3 that I planned due to some health issues. It took another week to take them down in sections.

After rinsing, I used Suave Professional Almond and She Butter Moisturizing Conditioner mixed with a little bit of jojoboa oil. Her hair was very easy to detangle! Once I was done rinsing the conditoner, I got her out of the tuba and wrapped her hair with a t-shirt. She only wore the t-shirt long enough to finish the usual after bath activities.

I sectioned her hair and applied Bee Mine Luscious Balanced Cream Moisturizer and Bee Mine Deja's Hair Milk. I began to band her hair in preparation for her trim the following day. I would have liked to have her hair banded to two days prior to the trim but that didn't happen due to time restraints throughout the week. I ended up doing 17 secitons in all. I used 80 ouchless bands. The bands that I used were purchased at Target. They are Goody Ouchless and they come in a 20 count package. The tag says 2 for $5. Anisa's hair was banded until about 30 minutes before her appointment. Her hair was stretched, but not as much as I liked. We were running behind so I rushed to the salon and wondered how it would go.

Anisa was referred to as Diana Ross when we arrived to the salon! The fact that her hair wasn't as stretched as I would have liked and the wind, well let's just say that her hair was huge!! Lol! She ended up getting about an inch trimmed. The stylist had nothing but positive things to say about her hair. This was Anisa's first time visiting a salon.

Overall, I am very satisfied with the products listed above. I especially love the bar. Anisa's hair/scalp look squeaky clean after I use it. I also love the natural ingredients. This is something that I will definitely continue to use.

  7. So cute! I wish I could let dd wear her hair out every once in a while, but it ends up getting mushed. I recently tried a different shampoo bar and I think I'm going to stick with bars for my dds. I may try this one once the bar we have gets used.
