grease my scalp with garlic hair grease.. so it could grow.... so wonder I didn't have a boyfriend.... Yikes!!! lol
I believe the worst hair advaice I received was waiting until she turned 6 to put any kind of chemical on her hair (i.e. texturizer or relaxer). I'm SO glad I decided not to go that route. She had her first "real" hair pressing this past weekend and it came out better than I thought it did. She's still a "natural" but seeing how her hair can switch w/o the use of chemicals soothed my nerves. We'll be getting her hair pressed once a month along with a depp condition to take care of her hair and maintaining her ends.
Chemically straighten my twin then 2 year olds hair. I don't think so. I love their hair natural.
My little girl didn't have much hair (she still doesn't have a lot but I can do stuff with it now). Then it started growing unevenly and someone told me in order to get her hair to grow and to grow evenly, I needed to SHAVE her hair off to give it a clean start ::blank stare::
To use baby oil on her hair
Worst advice was to put a "texturizer" in my daughters hair. Unfortunately when she turned 12 I followed the advice because my daughter was begging for straight hair. Long story short- 5 inches of my daughters hair broke off. It was devastating. She is 15 now and we made it through but I will NEVER put a chemical in any of my kids hair again. I have now learned there are so many more healthier options.
my mother-in-law told me to rub baby oil in my daughters hair "to loosen up the curls". Umm, yeah no thanks.
Definitely if you straighten or perm your hair it'll grow longer. Yea okay o_O
I must be scary because nobody has ever offered me hair advice lol.
I have so many!Dirt makes your hair growYou have to relax hair for it to growGrease is better than leave in conditionhair glue makes your hair grow...however garlic does stop your hair from shedding so a garlic oil isn't a bad thing...smelly but good for you hair...lol
A stylist who supposedly knew how to handle curly natural hair convinced me to do bangs. I looked like a poodle! I knew better, but fell for the hype!
I was also told to shave my daugther's hair so that it would grow back evenly. My cousin wants me to press my 3 yr old daughter's hair to get her ends trimmed. I'm just not ready for something like that. I'm not even ready to see her with straight hair. I love her hair like it is.
I was talking about how my 2 yr old DD's hair had to be braided because it's brittle and my Chinese colleague suggested I straighten it. It was hard to respond politely because for a 2 yr old I think that's like saying I should beat her. I don't know if she felt she could say that because I'm Chinese too (by race alone--I culturally identify with Trinidad).
If you perm your boys hair...their hair will grow faster.(crazy)Blowdrying or straightening your boys hair will not cause beakage or damage...it can be better managed that way without the need for lots of detangling which causes lots of beakage.(hmmm, did I hear right?).
I rarely get offered advice (especially unsolicited advice), but someone recently told me I had to wash hair my girls' hair once every two weeks - no more, no less, no room for differing opinions, or a routine that works for us.
Someone suggested that I put a relaxer in my 3 year old daughter's hair. I don't think so!!!
Put a texturized in my 4 year olds hair. I just cut the last of it out three months ago. She is almost six now.
1. you need to chemically str810 your hair to show its true length. (no, dodo bird, I can just stretch the hair with my hands and show you its true length).2. trimming makes your hair grow.(no, dodo bird, it helps it look well maintained and helps cut down on split ends crawling up the hair shaft.)3. long hair on boys is ghetto, so cut your son's hair short often. (your opinion, dodo bird, not mine).
-I was told that when you dont wash your hair or comb it for many days, it would grow longer and thicker.-Also If you brush your hair 100 times at night it will grow very long.Btw, I tried both of them many yrs ago lol the second one def didnt work but the first (even though it was disgusting) I did notice that when I finally washed my hair, It did appear to be alot fuller and thicker!!
vaseline makes hair grow
This lady came up to me at a playground, and asked me if it was hard to fix her hair. I said No, we enjoy fixing hair. She said "If I was you I would iron it all the time or just cut it off." I responded with a "smart mouth" and told her "Good thing, I'm not you them" Ad there goes my daughter responding her " I don't want a hair cut, I want to look pretty, I have pretty hair" then she took off to the slide.
vaseline makes your hair grow
I would have to say BLUE MAGIC grease, vaseline, Perms and washing only once a month. Just thinking about it makes me want to wash my hair.
i haven't been given too much advice hair wise.. imust put off a don't approach vibe.. but one thing that irritates me a person i know who has a mixed race child - instead of researching what hair care routines would be great for their hair she is putting sorbeline cream in his hair.. that is horrid...
