Two Layered Slanted Cornrows

This is actually a remix of the Half Cornrows with Braid Around Sock Bun Style. After she wore that style for a few days, I switched the top up. Read below for instructions.

Instructions:
  • After A wore the Half Cornrows with Braid Around Sock Bun Style for a few days I took the top of that style completely out (besides the 3 cornrows) and decided to cornrow the top.
  • I started on the left side and began by following the pattern of the previous cornrow I had done a few days before. I parted my next (medium) sized section right next to the cornrow on the left side of her head.
  • I continued parting next to each cornrow all the way around the top of her head.
  • I added Bee Mine Luscious Moisturizer & Curly Butter to each section.
  • I ended on the right side of her head. At this point, there was a side part and the cornrows were slanted. Totally unplanned but that's what I got from following the pattern of the first three cornrows.
  • I added beads on the ends of each braid and secured with a rubberband. I didn't have time to soak the rubberbands in coconut oil but I did rub them in some coconut oil very quickly before putting them in.

Tools Used:

Total Styling Time: About 25-30 minutes

  2. LOVE the fact that you did this! I did the previous style on my twins last night, and they were like "Mommy, is my hair dine?" Lol.

  4. Very pretty. I love slanted braids just because they give off such a different look when braided. Love how you switched up the style. I see A has a boo boo on her elbow...poor baby. I just finished braiding/2 strand twisting my middle 2 boys hair, now I'm off to wash my older sons and do the same to his tomorrow because school is Wednesday. We decided this school year all three big boys will stay in braids/twist to give their ends a break from braids. Lil man is getting homeschooled...but he hasn't been left out his hair will be done in maybe twist or the same ol ponytails braided or twisted tomorrow too. Have you and A decided on a style for the first day of school?

  7. I like how you switched it up. I actually did a version of the sock pony tail and my daughter loved it. It was the first time I used beads on her hair but didnt know how to keep the rubberbads on so I used foil. LOL.

  8. Nice style, as always! I noticed her band-aid, and I don't know if you were aware or not but the Shea Butter & Coconut Oil you use for her hair will also help heal & prevent scarring. My little girl had a bad rash were she had scratched, waited til it scabbed, kept applying the SB & CO...you couldn't tell after it healed. Now another's back, but will do it again! Hope this helps!

  10. I love your blog!!! I have two bi-racial daughters, both w/ very curly but different hair. I did this hair style on my youngest :) The only problem that I have w/ their hair is that the braids end up curling the next day. It looks cute and all but I was just wondering if that happens to A's braids? Thanks!
