Instructions:
- Start with well moisturized, properly detangled, stretched hair. I stretched A's hair this time around with about 7-8 large single braids.
- You will start by parting the hair from ear to ear. Tie off the back section to get it out of your way.
- On your top section, part a square right in the front of the hair, place that section in a rubberband or ponytail holder. You will then part a square on both sides of your first section, place those sections in a rubberband/ponytail holder as well. You now have three sections in the front.
- Split each front section into two and braid each section about two inches down. So you have a total of 6 half braids in the front.
- Part right in the middle, behind your first square to start your back sections. Part a square slightly to the side then take one of your front middle braids and connect it into the back section.
- Part a square next to your first back section square and once again, take the other front middle braid and connect it into that ponytail.
- You will continue this process until you are done. Once complete, you should have 3 squares in the front, and 4 in the back. The ponytail squares in the front should connect to the back ones.
- Braid the rest of the hair left over in your back sections, so you will have 4 medium/large braids.
- Untie the back section, part it straight down the middle then cross over the two middle braids. Braid all the way down.
- From there you just need to accessorize. I choose some flowers for this style but this can easily be dressed down. Choose colorful ponytail holders and fun accessories!
Tools Used:
- Metal rat tail comb
- Modified Denman D3 Brush
- Bee Mine Products
- Rubberbands, flower clips, ouchless ponytail holders
Total Styling Time: About 20-25 minutes

this is cute. You could also vary the style with this one in the back...a low bun in the back (like you showed last week with the braids), curlformers/flexi rods in the back, or a 2 strand twist out in the back. Thanks for the ideas!
ReplyDeleteThis is just too cute!!! SO glad I found your blog because my girls are always asking about new styles.
ReplyDeleteCute. I will have to show my aunt this picture for her wedding soon. Keep the ideas coming !!!
ReplyDeleteThis is very cute!! A is getting so big! This style is similar to a style I did for Anisa a couple of months ago. I did it with fish tail braids. Check out my profile pic if you want to take a look.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Great simple style for those days when your in a hurry but need to do a quick style that still comes out beautiful. Love it. It seems like A hair has gotten thicker or my eyes are playing a trick on me. Maybe the the braids are braided very loose and big because that can give off the same look. Anyway...still beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies!
ReplyDelete@Aisha, it is! I love the fishtail version. I actually first did this style in 2009 for our first style challenge. We had lots of entries and happygirlhair ended up winning-

The post was deleted when I deleted all of my other posts due to the hair salon picture incident. I need to try to get it all reposted.
@ Aisha
ReplyDeleteBeautiful hairstyle(Profile Pic). I need to start back doing little girls hair. My boys are getting so big...they just want braids mixed with twist and rarely any designs anymore ( they love their shrinkage and how the twist looks like dreds but they don't want dreds). Oh well It's their decision, plus they want something thats quick and I am OK with that.LOL. Great Job
There is something so special about the veil style. It looks elegant and interesting without being fussy or over-complicated. It looks beautiful on A.
ReplyDelete@ Nikki - I just took a look at the link. Very cute! That little girl has beautiful hair!
ReplyDelete@ Dimples - I love the dred look that I get from my twists as well. It's so easy! I need easy styles for myself. Anisa has been wearing box braids for the last week and a half. I've been changing them up a lot. I love box braids! They are so versatile!

ReplyDeleteAisha I love the profile pic - can you do a tutorial so I can see some different pics?
ReplyDeleteNikki - I tried something similar but the entire hair was in boxes instead of just two in the back. I will try this one this weekend.
Can I just say I'm so glad you started doing flower girl hairstyles! I'm aiming to get married next year & have been searching already to collect possible styles. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteGreat style! We will definitely be trying this one out!!
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWish I was as good as you with making clean and creative parts in the hair, lol. Since I am right-handed and goofy, all my parts tend to slant more to the right, especially because I part from ear-to-ear starting from the left side. Weird.
I think after our week of ballerina buns we'll settle on this style and just change up the back: two braids, one Indian braid, a ballerina low bun, an unbraided ponytail, big box braids...tons of possbilities. So, we'll love this style.
I love this and will be copying it. ;-)
ReplyDeleteso cute. will have to sock this one away for special occasion.
ReplyDeleteJust lovely, I have tried the veil ( http://wildlittlerascals.blogspot.com/ ) and she likes it Ray calls it diamonds. My brother is getting married soon and I cant wait to fix the flower girls hair.
ReplyDeleteI love this! I have not learned to cornrow yet so I love styles like this that I can actually do lol
