LaToya submitted these pictures of her adorable 16 month old daughter, Simone, rocking the fro-hawk.

"My husband usually does a co-wash with Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle ( I think that's the name) once a week. This week I used a mixture of shea butter, coconut oil, castor oil and peppermint oil that I made and then shingled Giovanni Direct Leave in conditioner and a little of Carol's Daughter hair milk (I think I'll leave the hair milk out next time). I braided 3 cornrows on each side and did large twists (about 4-5) down the middle of her head. I did use a little Kinky Curly Curling Custard (say that 3 times fast) in the center section before twisting and put her to bed for the night. I put a satin scarf down in her crib. I'll re-do the twists tonight and later in the week my just cornrow the middle down so it lasts until next Saturday."

Cornrow Rockstar Mohawk

If your child thinks they are a rockstar (like A) then this is the perfect style for your little one!

Photobucket

Photobucket

This style can take between 1 1/2-2 hours. I split her hair down the middle (remember, your part will not be visisble so it doesn't have to be perfect) and tied one side off, then I started cornrowing. I rotated from a straight cornrow, to criss cross cornrows until I got to the top, then I started on the other side. Remember, if you do not know how to cornrow, check out this website. I learned how to cornrow from their simple instructions!

And of course, if you have rockstar hair, then you have to have a rockstar outfit and rockstar attitude! lol I took A up to this graffiti Madagascar themed wall and took a few pictures of her. It was definitely a fun day.

Twisted Mohawk

As you know, it's mohawk/frohawk week!

This is a very easy style you can do on your little girl.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Part 2 sections of hair, so you will have 3 sections in all. Tie each section off with Ouchless Goody hair ties and two strand twist the ponytails, add beads/barrettes and you're done!

The cornrows I added to the first twisted section are optional. They kind of give the style a little more flare. Just part a couple of sections of hair going up into the ponytail on each side and cornrow them.

It's Mohawk/Frohawk week, so if you have any pictures of your kiddo rockin' a mohawk/frohawk send them in by January 23rd so I can submit them for Hair Share!

Simple Mohawks

Well, as you may know, it's mohawk/frohawk week!

These are easy mohawks you can do on your kiddo.

Photobucket

Photobucket

This first one took 5 minutes. Start with detangled hair, section off 3 parts of the hair and tie off each section with a Goody Ouchless hair tie. You may need more sections depending on how much hair your child has.

Photobucket

This next one took about 20 minutes. Start with detangled hair, part the hair straight down the middle, your part does not have to be perfect because the part will not be visible. Start parting medium/large sections, start cornrowing from the sides going into the middle. As you can see, my cornrows were far from perfect, I did this as fast as I could, and it still turned out pretty cool. Remember, if you do not know how to cornrow, check out this website. I learned how to cornrow from their simple instructions!

It's Mohawk/Frohawk week, so if you have any pictures of your kiddo rockin' a mohawk/frohawk send them in by January 23rd so I can submit them for Hair Share!

Valentine Heart Mohawk

Photobucket

Photobucket

I know it's a little early for Valentine's Day hair but I saw this heart cornrow style on Katelynylyn's youtube and decided to give it a try. I ended up cornrowing it into a mohawk instead. You can view her tutorial here. I forgot to curve the second cornrow, but I think it still came out cute. I bought some pink heart beads the other day so I added a few of those along with some regular beads. I used shea butter mixed with coconut oil and a little ORS Lock & Twist gel.

TIP: When doing styles that require a lot of moving, sit in your office/desk chair (assuming it has wheels) this makes it easy for mom to move around instead of getting up, then sitting down, and hurting your back in the process.

I have decided to turn this week into Mohawk/Frohawk week, so if you have any pictures of your kiddo rockin' a mohawk/frohawk send them in by January 23rd so I can submit them for Hair Share!

Unauthorized Pictures of My Daughter!

It was brought to my attention a few days ago that a flyer had been going around Newark, New Jersey, and that flyer had pictures of my daughter, A, all over the front and back! That flyer is promoting Kiydiah Children's Salon and Boutique. The images of my daughter were taken from this site and used without my knowledge or permission.

Although the business owner offered an apology, she would not send the unused flyers to me or prove that they have been destroyed. The business owner told me to contact Ultimate Production Studio, who created the flyer. Ultimate Production Studio denied any wrongdoing, telling me that they take almost all images from Google.

All images and words on my blog are protected by copyright. I own the rights to my words and photos and they cannot be used without my permission. Individual photographs from a Google image search clearly state that images may be subject to copyright. Generally, model releases must also be obtained if businesses want to use photos of people for commercial gain. I signed no release on behalf of my minor child. This is a clear violation of my rights and I have contacted the proper authorities in NJ.

I'm asking all of my New Jersey readers to please keep an eye on this and let me know if you see any of these flyers being passed out, or if you see any other images of my daughter used anywhere but on this site.

Valentine's Day Shopping

Photobucket

I went to the mall today and found some cute Valentine things for the kids for CHEAP! Everything I bought for A pictured above came up to $30, and the shirt for little man was $5.

Old Navy Valentine shirts: $5 each
Old Navy Heart shoes: $12.50 (originally $16.50 but I got a deal because there was a slight "stain" on the toe part, you can't even see it. Score!)
Children's Place Valentine bows: 2/$5 (2 per pack, so 4 all together)

For all you Hello Kitty lovers, Old Navy had several adorable Hello Kitty shirts! They also had more Valentine stuff. Children's Place had several different Valentine bows, headbands, and sunglasses, all 2/$5.

I'll take A in a week or two to pick out some Valentine cards to give to her friends at school. I need to find some jeans for her and little man as well.

Happy Shopping!

"Don't touch my hair!"

A came home today and told me someone was touching her hair. I asked her what she said. "Don't touch my hair!" Yes, with the finger shaking and all.

A don't play!! lol If anyone touches her hair they will get the same response as above. She's not very nice about it, but can you blame her? :P

We don't want random hands in the hair. Definitely don't want a scissor accident happening.

Ulta

Photobucket

Someone on CurlyNikki posted about Ulta having a sale. She said the Giovanni was buy one, get one free. My Riteaid didn't have Giovanni Direct Leave-in (love that stuff!) So I had to go check Ulta out.

You can check out Ulta's flyer here.

The sale is from January 3rd-January 23rd

To get the Giovanni for BOGO you need the coupon in the flyer. They carry their flyer in the store, so just ask for one. They also have a coupon on the front page of the flyer $3.50 off any purchase of $10 or more. Ulta also has Herbal Essences products 2/$6, Matrix 1 liter products $13, and much more!

Oh, and did you know Ulta has DevaCurl?

Before & Afters:

In her before pictures I had taken down 5 big "bed time" braids. If you would like to see what her hair looks like washed, detangled, with no product left in, go here

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

In the picture below, she was swinging her hair back and forth, you can really see how defined and frizz free her curls were.

Photobucket

I am definitely impressed with Curly Q's. A's hair is soft, moisturized, and frizz free. She has volume, but not "too" much volume. Just fun, bouncy curls! Everything smells absolutely amazing! I think the prices are reasonable, especially considering you don't need much of any of the above products. A little goes a long way. I can see several of the above full size products lasting several months. I really wasn't sure how much I would like Curly Q's. I thought it would be too light for A's 4A curl type but that is not the case. I am loving it. If you would like to purchase Curls, Curly Q's, or It's-a-Curl products you can visit their website.

Disclosure: The product(s) were sent to me free of charge from the company or PR agency for the purpose of this review. My opinions are my own and are not influenced by any other part.
