I would love to win this book for my beautiful God Daughter. One thing I always want her to know is that she is beautiful just the way she is. She doesn't have to have straight hair to be considered beautiful. Her curly "cotton candy hair" is unique, which makes her even more beautiful! She is starting to attend school and interacting with different children, of different ethnicities. So now is the perfect time to introduce this book to her.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the opportunity to win.

ReplyDelete*crossing fingers hoping to win**
Oh oh oh I would love to win this! I most def follow and this would be for my 2 daughters, Tatum age 4 who loves her hair in a "puff ball" and Terin age 2 who hates getting her hair done but what can you do lol.
ReplyDeleteI would like this book for my daughter because I am the only one in our family that is natural and the treatment that I get from family and some friends, after two years of being natural, is not the idea I want planted in my daughter's head about her natural kinky hair. Also my daughter just started Pre-K and this will be a good book to add to her reading log.
ReplyDeleteThanks in advance,
Tonya Strong

I follow B&B and the book would be for my niece. My niece is inter-racial and lives in a small town in Iowa with the Caucasian side of her family. They do what they can with her hair but they do not know very much about hair care, and she has two female cousins her age that have long straight hair and I just want her to grow up with a good self image.
ReplyDeleteAs an African American female I know how difficult it can be to love "one's hair" and I especially know how difficult it is for her growing up in a community where not many people have "cotton candy hair". We (the husband and I) visit twice and year and I braid her hair and do different styles for her, because her mother has arthritis and keeps her daughters hair in a short fro for convenience. I just want my niece to know that she is beautiful just the way she is, and grow up to embrace her "cotton candy hair" as I have mine.
I follow BBB and I would like to win this book for my niece Clara. I volunteered to do Clara’s hair on weekends because she has really long and kinky hair. Her mom works a lot and is sometimes too tired to do pretty styles on her daughter. Clara has 3 older sisters that already had a perm done and she wants to get a perm too. I try to tell her that she has beautiful hair and that she doesn’t need a perm. Clara is in second grade and she enjoys reading. She would love this book. ;-]
ReplyDeleteI follow BBB and the Book would be for my beautiful daughter S. I know she will Love the Book I already tell her that she is beautiful and the book will enlighten her how beautiful she is on the inside and out..
ReplyDeleteI follow BBB and this book will be for my two children who love to read. Both of them have very curly/kinky hair and I want them for once, to be able to identify with the character and to grow up loving their hair. It doesn't have to be straight, curly hair is just as beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI follow BBB and I would love to gift this book to my daughter. Although she's only 3, she definately has a great love for her hair. I'm sure as she gets older people's comments could effect that about her. It's very rare you see a book that relates to you when you are biracial. I think this book would be a great addition to our library!
ReplyDelete-Shay P.
I'm a follower! I would get this book for my biracial daughter Serenity. I think it will reinforce everything positive I'm trying to teach her about her hair. She's always getting wonderful comments from people (even strangers) about her lovely curls. It's funny that this book is about "cotton candy" hair - that's how I describe Serenity's hair because when it's especially it looks like and is delicate just like cotton candy! Thank you for a chance to win this awesome book for my little girl!
ReplyDeleteI follow BBB and I would love this book for my daughter E, cos I think it will help her to accept even more how beautiful she is inside and outside.
ReplyDeleteBridget

ReplyDeleteI follow GFC and this book will be for my niece.
ReplyDeletehi, im nadela & i love u blog. so the reason i want to win this book is for my niece. she is 6 turning 7 and i think her hair beautiful the way it is but she is just counting the days till she will get a perm. when i told of how beautiful it was she said " no its not, it nappy!". i believe its because she is surrounded by those who think "nappy hair" is bad hair and she sees extension braids and getting perm as her only option. So i think this book would help her to embrace her hair & the way God made her. ---thanks <3

ReplyDeleteI follow BBB. I would like to win this book for my 6 year old daughter who likes her cotton candy hair, but sometimes still wishes she had straight hair like her friends at school, so that I can re-enforce that her hair IS beautiful and fun, and that she does'nt have to look like everyone else to be pretty. And also this would help her self esteem by letting me show her that there ARE other people with the same kind of hair she has and she isn't different in a bad way, just special!
ReplyDeleteI follow BBB. I would love to win this book for my daughter Jaicia. We live in a small town in South Dakota, where the "brown" population is less than 1%. She already compares her self to her classmates who all have long straight hair. I tell her daily how beautiful her hair is, and how it makes her unique, and I think this book would help to reinforce that. I want her to love her cotton candy hair, too!

ReplyDeleteI definitely follow BBB. I would love to win this book for my almost 3 year old daughter. I collect books for her that promote love for her natural hair. One of our current favorites is "Catching the Wild Waiyuuzee." "I Love my Cotton Candy Hair" would fit her collection quite well.
ReplyDeleteI follow BBB and I would like to win this book for all my kids. Mainly my oldest who just turned 4. She loves her hair or "fluff" as she calls it and I think the title alone reinforces the positive thoughts she has of her hair. I think it's always good for them to see people who look like them in print/on tv because the majority of the images are the exact opposite of what they look like. It might also help my younger daughter learn to appreciate her own unique beauty as she loves "princess hair."
ReplyDeleteI follow the blog!
ReplyDeleteI know my daughter would love this book. She reads every morning as soon as she wakes up.
I would love this book for my five year old daughter! I love for us to read books with characters that look like her, which can be rare. ReplyDeleteI follow BBB and this book will be for my one and only daughter (9 weeks old). It's a beautiful book with a great message!!
ReplyDeleteI follow BBB and 3 other hair care and styling blogs so have lots of 'adult'-centered reading material, but would love to add to our small but growing collection of CHILDREN'S books IN ENGLISH with pictures and stories involving COC. We are living in Germany where there isn't much awareness about racial/color/hair issues in the adult --and thus also in the young -- population. It is very rare even to find pictures of POC in children's books. We would love to be able to show friends and our 1st grade class a book with a STRONG and PROUD BLACK GIRL as the MAIN character!
ReplyDeleteI follow BBB and I would love this book for my little girl Jaliyah. She already loves to read and I Love what this book is about.

ReplyDeleteI follow BBB! I would give this book to my daughter, even though she doesn't have black hair. I've actually seriously considered buying it recently! Q may not have "cotton candy" hair, but she has curls and I want her to love them no matter what. I think ALL of use should learn to love ourselves the way we are, no perming, straightening, even dyeing! I have straight hair and my 2 yo Q has gorgeous ringlets... but she's the only one in our family who does. I don't want her to grow up thinking her hair is "harder" or "worse" than straight hair. I want her love the curls God gave her! Just the way they come out of her head! <3
ReplyDeleteMy daughter E (age 8) would love this book. She was adopted from Liberia 2 1/2 yrs ago and is most comfortable wearing braids. Her hair is tightly curled and beautiful. I have enjoyed your blog and always learn so much here. Thank you so much!
ReplyDeletePat Joyce
I am a follower of BBB! This book would be for my beautiful 4year daughter who can't understand why she doesn't have hair like her (white) best friend.
ReplyDeleteMiche'al
I'm a follower of BBB! I've wanted to get this book for my 3.5 year old daughter Tia for a while now. It's hard enough to find a book that features an interracial family and/or a biracial lead character. But it's even more difficult to find something that encourages a positive self image, especially related to hair. My daughter has already noticed other children talking about her hair and gets self conscious about it sometimes. She doesn't have any role models with natural hair, all her family members, her godmom, and our friends use relaxers. She is just getting into reading and really identifies with characters in books so I think this book would be awesome for her self esteem and confidence.
ReplyDeleteI follow BBB and this book would be for my 2 year old daughter, Lauren. Lauren is just beginning her journey. Her journey of self discovery. For Lauren to meet Charlie through the art of storytelling will give Lauren the chance to see another little girl just like her, a girl who loves her curly hair. It would also open the door of discussion between Lauren and I to talk about her hair, my hair and her friends hair. This book would be awesome. I would love to share this book with my daughter.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter would love this book. She is kindergarten and loves to be read to and look at books.
ReplyDeleteI am a follower of BBB and this book would be for my 2 year old princess A! She has a love for reading and the message in this book would certainly enhance her self-love and confidence...Thanks for this awesome giveaway!

ReplyDeletei follow BBB("for a long time by checking on the bookmark but i am recently a follower") and i want this book for my little sister.she has alot of low self esteem when it comes to her hair. All she want is a simple ponytail no pretty braids or ponytails because she thinks its a hassle to do her hair.I didnt know how to manage it or take care of it the right way until i found BBB.I never liked doing her hair and at times called it nappy. When in all reality it was me!I didnt know how to take care of it in the right way.now by me telling her that she has grown to accept that is what her hair really is.When it is not,it is a full thick head of gorgeous curly hair. And i need and want her to understand that and not growing up and wanting to get perms or relaxers like i did when i was young and loose her beautiful curls.I want her to grow up and encourage other people that its ok to love who you are and your hair because "you are not your hair".Also i want her to understand my hair isnt nappy its unique, its curly and its beautiful.
